North Star Heating & Cooling ("we," "us," or "our") respects your privacy. This policy explains what information we collect when you use northstarhvac.mn, how we use it, and the choices you have.

1. Information we collect

We collect only the information needed to respond to your request and operate the Site:

• Contact form submissions: name, phone, email, service type, and message content
• Maintenance plan submissions: name, phone, email, service address, and plan selection
• Cookies: small files stored on your device to remember preferences (see Section 3)
• Server logs: IP address, user-agent string, pages visited, and timestamps, used to operate and secure the Site
• Analytics: aggregate, privacy-respecting traffic data (see Section 4)

2. How we use your information

• Respond to inquiries and schedule service
• Enroll you in a maintenance plan if requested
• Send occasional service reminders or follow-up communication (you may opt out at any time)
• Improve the Site and understand how visitors use it
• Prevent abuse, spam, and fraud
• Comply with legal obligations

We do not sell your personal information. We do not share it with third parties for their marketing purposes.

3. Cookies

We use a small number of cookies:

• Essential: remember your cookie consent choice (stored in your browser's localStorage, not a traditional cookie)
• Analytics: Cloudflare Web Analytics uses a cookieless beacon to count visits (see Section 4)
• Bot protection: Cloudflare Turnstile may set a short-lived token when you submit a form, to verify you are not a bot

You can decline non-essential tracking via the banner shown on your first visit. You can also clear site data from your browser at any time.

4. Third-party services

We use the following services to operate the Site:

• Form processing: contact and maintenance plan submissions are forwarded via Schematic to our email inbox
• Cloudflare Turnstile: a privacy-respecting bot verification widget on form submissions, no cross-site tracking
• Cloudflare Web Analytics: aggregate traffic metrics without cookies, personal identifiers, or cross-site tracking
• Google Maps: embedded map on our Contact page, Google's privacy policy applies to the embed
• Google Fonts: web fonts delivered from fonts.google.com

5. Data retention

Contact form and maintenance plan submissions are retained for as long as needed to respond to your request and maintain our customer records, typically 7 years for business and tax purposes. Server logs are rotated and deleted on a rolling 90-day basis. You may request earlier deletion of your records (see Section 7).

6. Security

The Site is served over HTTPS. Form data is transmitted over encrypted connections. Customer records are stored on access-controlled systems. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information.

7. Your rights

Depending on where you reside, you may have the right to:

• Access the personal information we hold about you
• Request correction of inaccurate information
• Request deletion of your information
• Request a copy of your information in a portable format
• Object to or restrict certain uses
• Opt out of any "sale" of personal information (we do not sell personal information)

8. Children's privacy

The Site is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have inadvertently collected information from a child, contact us and we will delete it.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent revision. Material changes will be announced on the Site.
